An honest answer

WHO IS THE BEST MENTALIST
IN AUSTRALIA?

It is the most searched version of the question and it has no honest answer. There is no ranking body and no judging panel. What there is, is a short list of things you can verify yourself before booking anyone. Here they are, and here is this performer put through the same test.

NOBODY CAN HONESTLY ANSWER THAT

There is no ranking body, no league table and no judging panel for mentalism in Australia. Anyone who tells you they are the best is telling you what they would like to be true. The useful question is not who is best, it is what can you actually verify before you hand over a deposit. Six things, all checkable in about ten minutes, and they work on any performer including this one.

The six checks

WHAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY VERIFY

1. Is the work documented somewhere they do not control?
A website is a claim. IMDb, a broadcaster’s own social account, a festival programme or a streaming platform are records other people maintain. Ask where the work is independently listed, then go and look.
2. Are the awards externally judged?
Plenty of entertainers invent an award and give it to themselves. A real one names the festival, the year and the category, and the festival’s own site remembers it. Ask which body judged it.
3. Are they a mentalist, or a magician using the word?
The words are not interchangeable and the difference shows in the room. A magician performs a prepared effect. A mentalist works with what your guests are actually thinking on the night. Both are legitimate. Being sold one as the other is not.
4. Do the testimonials name real, findable people?
An unattributed rave is worth nothing. A named critic at a named publication, or a named client at a named company, can be checked. If a quote has no name attached, ask why.
5. Have they been asked to judge or consult, not only to perform?
Being booked is a transaction. Being asked to sit on a judging panel, train an actor, or advise a university is the industry treating someone as a standard rather than a supplier.
6. Does the track record carry dates?
Anyone can describe a career. Dates make it checkable, and dates are the one thing a copy cannot borrow. Ask when, not just what.

PUT THIS ONE THROUGH IT

It would be poor form to publish a checklist and dodge it, so here is this performer against all six, with the sources so you do not have to take any of it on trust.

Independently documented
IMDb lists the screen work, including a Prime Video series and Australia’s Got Talent across two seasons. Channel 7’s own Facebook page posted the audition. IMDb and Wikidata.
Externally judged awards
Two awards from the Melbourne Magic Festival, in 2014 and 2015, judged by the industry. Later invited back to judge that festival, and a judge at the Sydney Fringe Festival for four of the last five years across theatre, comedy, dance and acting.
Mentalist, and honest about the difference
Both mentalism and magic are on offer here and they are sold separately, not blurred. The difference in full.
Named testimonials
Critics named with their publications, and celebrity quotes attributed to the people who said them. Plus 5.0 from 42 Google reviews on the public business profile.
Asked, not only booked
Consulted for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, credited on IMDb as card expert to Taylor Kitsch. Consulted by UNSW’s Future Minds Lab, contracted by Professor Joel Pearson. Spoke at SXSW Sydney 2025.
Dated
Twenty-five years. 500+ cruise contracts and 1,000+ shows at sea across more than twenty years continuously contracted. Every claim above carries a year.
Being fair about it

WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE

None of that makes anyone the best. It makes a record checkable, which is a different and more useful thing. There are excellent performers in Australia with thinner paper trails, and there are thin performers with good marketing. Use the six checks on whoever you are considering, including this one, and book the person whose evidence actually stands up. If a mentalist is the wrong fit for your night, I will tell you that too.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EVENT

Date, venue and roughly how many guests is enough to start. If a mentalist is the wrong call for your night, I will say so.
